San Juan(Puerto Rico), Sept 2 (AP): The U.S. military has released three more prisoners from its prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The Defense Department said Tuesday it transferred one prisoner to Pakistan and two to Afghanistan. It did not disclose their names or any details about the men.
Their release brings the total still held at Guantanamo to about 255.
The U.S. has released more than 500 prisoners and says dozens more are eligible for transfer or release following a security review.
Military officials say they plan to prosecute about 80 for war crimes at a special court on the U.S. Navy base in southeastern Cuba.
